| I have been doing For Sale By Owners (FSBOs) for many years now and no two are the same. There are millions of surprises along the way that can or not be worked out depending on the interest and flexibility of the buyer of course. In California Buyers are very protected and Sellers can be held responsible if they sell in "bad faith". CA is a full disclosure state so everything must be out in the open. If you have doubts consult a professional. This is a great website and many professionals are on-line to help you. Each of us has certain experience in certain fields. Mine is financing since I have been doing loans nationwide for many years now and looking at thousands of credit reports. I also have bought and sold property internationally (specifically Spain) and can tell you it is a nightmare. Remember, real estate laws are different in every State and every Country. One thing I can say for FSBOs though, if you find the right buyer that will "work with you" it will be smooth and a pleasure. Find the bad one, and he will rake you through the coals.
I am a California based real estate consultant but have lived 20 years in Spain and can help you with any real estate transaction there. They do not use escrow but rather "notarios".
