We have our house for sale and it isn't selling. We are considering un-listing it with our realtor so we can do a fsbo at a lower price (maximize our bottom line and still sell). If we get an offer as a fsbo what is our commission obligation to our realtor? Is there a 6 mos time frame that if we sell our house she is still legally entitled to part of a commission? Does this vary state to state? Where would I find this information? Any information that anyone can provide would be helpful.
Thank you,
Bonnie

| Hi Bonnie, I suggest reviewing your contract carefully and taking it to an attorney before you begin selling FSBO. Some contracts lock you in as tightly as they can. Typically these contracts make you liable to pay the commission regardless of who sells the home. So while you have the right to termination the agreement with your agent, she may still be entitled to a commission once the home is sold. Good Luck and please email us at help@owners.com if you have any questions. -FSBO Guru Owners.com
