Hi all: First time on this site... Very nice!
We have a written offer on our home - Buyer and their Realtor want a closing of June 20, 2008. I am now asking that they move it to the 30th or first part of July. I am in the process of interviewing for jobs and have 3 potential offers. If we close on the 20th - we will have to put our stuff in storage since we have no place to move to yet...
We have also had sewer problems - which we have disclosed to their Realtor. They want to come walk thru the house again on tomorrow - fine by us.
Can we back out of the deal since they are NOT willing to budge on the closing date??? or should we wait and hope they will back out after they see the slight damage in the basement???
thanks

| It seems it is not so much the closing date you are worried about, but more the date the new owners take occupancy & you have to move out. Does your contract state immediate occupancy upon closing, or does it state owners will take occupancy 30 days from the date of closing? When they do see the damage, even if they don't want to change the closing date, maybe you can renegotiate their occupancy date. Something to the effect that they will give you longer to move out & in the meantime you will work on cleaning the damage. In this market I would hate to see someone turn down a written offer.

Hi,
Maybe let them know for you to close on the 20th you would like to rent back the house from them until July 5th lets say. Come up with a daily amount that you both can decide on. They should have no problem with that unless they need to get out of a contract themselves.
I hope this helps.
